ICELAND
PANORAMIC VIEWS FROM EVERY ANGLE
The northern lights are produced when charged particles from the sun hit the earth’s atmosphere at the magnetic North and South Poles. The charged particles interact with the atmosphere, which can be
seen as illuminating swathes of multi-colored spectacle of lights.
THE WONDERS OF ICELAND
Streetlights across much of Iceland’s capital are switched off some nights so its citizens could make the most of the otherworldly glow of the aurora borealis dancing in the sky above them — without the usual interference from
light pollution.
MAIN HIGHLIGHTS
WHILE VISITING ICELAND...
Explore the Reykjanes peninsula which is the most southwesterly most point of Iceland and also the youngest part of the country. The North Atlantic ridge comes ashore here, visible signs of the volcanic activity which created the ridge can be seen all over this peninsula. Lava fields, lava tubes, rifts and hot springs can be found in a number of locations. Before you head to Reykjavik, you could enjoy a relaxing time in the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa in unique and beautiful surroundings.
